Jared Alan Cook (born April 7, 1987) is an American football tight end for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of South Carolina and was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He has also played for the St. Louis Rams and Green Bay Packers

Early years

Cook attended North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Georgia. While there, he played wide receiver. As a senior, he caught 32 passes for 800 yards and ten touchdowns. He also competed in track as a high jumper.

College career

Cook played college football at the University of South Carolina. During his career he started 15 of 36 games for the Gamecocks at tight end, finishing his career with 73 receptions for 1,107 yards and seven touchdowns.

Professional career

Tennessee Titans

Cook was selected in the third round (89th overall) by the Tennessee Titans in the 2009 NFL Draft. On July 7, 2009, he signed a contract with the Titans. In his rookie season, Cook finished the season with 9 receptions for 74 yards in 14 games.

Cook's second season was much more productive, he appeared in all 16 games including one start. He finished the season with 29 catches for 361 yards and one touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.

St. Louis Rams

Cook signed a five-year contract with the St. Louis Rams on March 12, 2013. after the Titans decided not to put the franchise tag on him following his request to be tagged as a wide receiver, which attracts a bigger pay. In his first game with the Rams in 2013, Cook recorded 141 yards and 2 touchdowns on 7 receptions in a 27-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals. He fumbled a possible third touchdown in the first quarter that was stripped by Tyrann Mathieu. His production slowed for the remainder of the season, but he still finished with 51 receptions for 671 yards and 5 touchdowns. He finished with almost identical numbers in 2014. Cook's tallies fell in 2015 to 39 catches on 75 targets for 481 yards.

He was released by the Rams on February 19, 2016.

Green Bay Packers

On March 28, 2016, Cook signed with the Green Bay Packers. The deal was a one-year $2.75 million with another $900,000 available through incentives. For the 2016 regular season Cook caught 30 passes for 377 yards and 1 touchdown. On January 15, 2017, in a divisional-round playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys, Cook caught a pass on the sideline from Aaron Rodgers for a 36-yard gain with 3 seconds remaining in the game, setting up the game-winning 51-yard field goal by Mason Crosby. Cook's statistics for the game were 6 catches for 104 yards and a touchdown.

Oakland Raiders

On March 16, 2017, Cook signed a two-year, $12.2 million contract with the Oakland Raiders.

On September 10, 2017, in the season opener against the Tennessee Titans, Cook had five receptions for 56 yards in his Raiders debut. During Thursday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7, Cook finished with 107 receiving yards on 6 receptions as the Raiders won 31-30. During Sunday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins in Week 9, Cook had another great performance with 126 receiving yards on 8 receptions as the Raiders won 27-24.
